Fincra was at the second edition of Moonshot by TechCabal, held at Eko Convention Centre, Lagos, on October 9 and 10, 2024. The event brought together many of the biggest players in Africa’s tech ecosystem with so many insightful conversations.

At the event, we had a diverse representation from Fincra, including members from the marketing and sales teams, as well as other cross-functional teams. 

Our Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Wole Ayodele, was a key participant, speaking at a panel session on “Innovating in Payments and Fintech” alongside other influential figures in the African tech space.

Someone who attended Moonshot said it felt like everyone in Lagos came for the event. This particular exaggeration is justified because the turnout at Moonshot was incredible.

You will have a difficult time finding an event with as many founders and tech talents under one roof engaging in impactful conversations. For this, we must commend the TechCabal team for pulling off this great feat in what was just the second edition of Moonshot.

So many businesses exhibited at Moonshot, and as a business that serves businesses, it was a surreal experience connecting with so many different types of businesses within the African tech space.

We particularly enjoyed discussing the payment needs of businesses that came to our booth and how Fincra’s Multicurrency Account API can help them revolutionize their international transactions.

Our Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Wole Ayodele, participated in a panel session on “Innovating in Payments and Fintech.” Some other important players in the African tech ecosystem joined him on the panel. 

The other panel members were Francis Nwoboshi, CCO of Sochitel Group, Ahunna Ogunedo, Investment Manager at 54 Collective, and Vivian Mbene, COO at The Tonic Technologies. The panel was moderated by Frank Eleanya, Senior reporter at TechCabal.

As you can imagine, the panel session was insightful and impactful to everyone present. So many things were discussed in this session, and Ayodele, the CEO of such a big player in the digital payments space, had a lot to say. 

Here’s one thing he said, “Offering incentives for digital payment adoption is a more effective approach than trying to forcefully remove cash from the system.” 

This was a response to whether removing cash from the system is the best approach to foster digital payment adoption.

He emphasized that people should be incentivised to make digital payments rather than having no other choice, as is the case when cash is forcefully removed from the system. This way, the effects are longer-lasting and signify actual adoption.

Almost every business that visited the Fincra booth asked if we could facilitate their international transactions.
