To honour fathers who work at Fincra, we spoke with a few to find out what being a dad in tech means to them.
Father’s Day is the day to recognise, honour and celebrate the sacrifices and accomplishments of fathers. Did you know that the world first celebrated Father’s Day in 1914? However, it wasn’t until 1972, 58 years after the 28th American president, Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day an official holiday, that day became a worldwide holiday. To honour fathers who work at Fincra, we spoke with a few to find out what being a dad in tech means to them.

How is your approach to work different after having kids?
My approach to work has changed a bit because I now have a second work 😁 which is to make sure mother and child are always in great condition.
What’s the biggest challenge in balancing work and fatherhood?
The biggest challenge is running errands, you’ll be in a meeting and your child is crying, her mum is sleeping (she hasn’t slept all night), so you’re the last person left to make sure the baby is fine but you also have some work to do.
Would you want your kid(s) to work in tech?
Of course, they’re already on that path.
What’s the best part about being a dad?
Kids are sources of great joy, they’re therapeutic beings, you could be having a bad day and one action from your kids can lift up your mood and get you back emotionally.
What’s the most shocking question your kid(s) has asked you?
My daughter once asked me why I am always awake at night, e shock me 😁

How is your approach to work different after having kids?
My approach to work after having kids is effective time management. Deliver work stuff promptly so I can get time to spend with the kids.
What’s the biggest challenge in balancing work and fatherhood?
I don’t see it as a challenge. It’s a blessing that I have to balance both.
Would you want your kid(s) to work in tech?
I believe the future is in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). I also love sports, but they have to be the best at whatever they want to do.
What’s the best part about being a dad?
Just holding my child in a tight hug. I’m going to do it forever.

Calm and balance without hesitation.
What’s the biggest challenge in balancing work and fatherhood
Knowing that every decision you take might indirectly affect the family. It’s quite different when you are single.
Would you want your kid(s) to work in tech?
Sure. Tech is the way to go.
What’s the best part about being a dad?
That feeling when you open the door and your kids run to welcome you at the door. It’s the best feeling ever.
What’s the most shocking question your kid(s) has asked you?
Daddy, is mummy your daughter? My answer is always Huh?
